Stage 4

That's Cadel Evans just outstretching Alberto at the line for the stage victory.

Another day, another flat stage, teased by the mini Alpe D’Huez, the cat 3 climb ending the stage was too steep for the pure sprinters, and not steep or long enough for the pure climbers.

Of note on this stage, Thor retains the yellow jersey, and it was well earned as he really worked to keep pace with the breakaway group prevent the time gap that would have lost the yellw.

And Cadell Evans came away with the stage victory, paced up the last few kilometers by George Hincappie. Evans just outstretched defending champ Alberto Contador who tried to break away, and make up some valuable time to no avail.

Alberto tried to pull away on the final ascent, but he certainly didn’t explode away like we seen him do on the big mountain stages. So did he expend too much energy? Doubtful, as it was only a small ascent, but I am sure he must be getting frustrated with working so hard for little reward.

STAGE 5

Stay tuned for stage 5, Carhaix to Cap Frehel. Another showcase for the sprinters with a cat 4 thrown in the middle to tease the KOM contenders.
